I heard that IRCE(Internet Retailer Convention and Exhibits) is big, but I’m surprised on how big it really is. Walking into the exhibit hall is overwhelming. All the big players in E-Commerce are represented, as well as many smaller players. It reminds me of how COMDEX was back when the tech bubble was close to bursting.

Magneto and Shopify has some of the largest booths for e-commerce platforms. WooCommerce, our favorite e-commerce platform, also has a nice booth.

Shipping and fulfillment is a big business. There were many solutions represented. In particular I visited ShipStation, who I also saw at WooConf 2016 this past April. UPS, FedEx, USPS are also represented.

The other big component of e-commerce is the payment system. There are increasingly more and more options. I visited the PayPal booth and learned about the new options they are now providing. I also saw the Authorize.net, Amazon Payments and MasterCard booths.
Finally, I visited a couple hosting providers. I had a nice visit with WPEngine, of whom we host our clients’ WordPress sites. For Magento hosting I spoke with ZeroLag and HostWay, both have impressive options.

Since our clients are small businesses, I’m following today’s “Small but Mighty” track hoping to gather knowledge I can use to help our clients. Tomorrow, I’ll be following the “Managing Technology” track. Interested in the session titled, “Preparing for New E-Commerce Platforms and Trends”.
