Web Solutions for Churches
The Idea
Churches use music, lots of music. A church may re-print 4 to 10 music titles each weekend. Much of this music is copyrighted by a variety of different publishers. Obtaining permission to reprint this music from each publisher is time consuming.
The founders of OneLicense.net came up with an idea that would help churches in obtaining permission to re-print this copyrighted music. OneLicense.net recruited many of the major church music publishers to participate in offering a single license for a collective music catalog.
The Problem
OneLicense.net distributes the royalties collected from each license to each copyright holder based on how many times a title was re-printed. Throughout the year each license holder must report which music titles were re-printed and how often. While OneLicense.net was ready to ease the burden of their customers as the single point of contact, they needed to automate the process.
The Solution
Aslan Interactive built OneLicense.net as a flexible system for churches and publishers. Making it easy on churches encourages compliance. Nearly 100 publishers have the ability to manage their own catalogs at OneLicense.net and do not need staff to manage the relationship with the church. OneLicense.net serves over 17,000 active churches and is run by a single full time employee.
